Understanding College Series

Our popular Understanding College series returns this year at York College of Pennsylvania, and I wanted to make sure you have the dates down. The series helps high schoolers, regardless of where they plan to attend college, to get a better grip on what they’ll be expected to know.

We’re kicking this off with Understanding College: Financial Literacy Night on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m at York College. We’ll cover the basics, but also have representatives from PHEAA and PNC Bank to cover topics such as finding private scholarships, opening a checking account, and other financial-related topics a college freshman should know.

Also, we’ll offer:

  • Academic Possibilities NightThursday, February 28, 7 – 8:30 p.m. For high schoolers who want insight on everything from choosing a major to how your major and internships can lead to a potential career. Families are welcome. Undeclared students and students & those figuring out how to pursue a specific career are highly encouraged to register!
  • A Night Just for Parents: Thursday, March 14, 7 – 8:30 p.m. What do parents need to know about having their student go off to college? This is great for high school parents you know who want to cut through the clutter and hear directly from YCP parents about the college experience. This is a prime chance to get a head start on what to expect well before a student enrolls.

We would love it if you could let students know about this and have them register for this free program! This is open to any high schooler and their families, regardless of intended school, and they can attend as many as they like. We welcome you to come as our guest as well.
